Hey, I'm Angelica.
I have friends who love me, family who loves me, a boyfriend who loves me and a God who loves me.

My little brother got into outer space and stuff so my step-mom bought him a place mat with all the planets on it. When I first saw it, I was upset, because it was newer and so Pluto wasn’t labeled. I was about to say something when I noticed something…

Pluto is there.

The artist remembered Pluto.

Guys…

The artist drew Pluto crying.

I look at my sister…

And I think, how come every other kid her age can’t act like her? She is a respectful, intelligent individual who has the wisdom of a sixty year old. She isn’t a whore or a slut or a scum bag. She doesn’t swear or act immature to gain approval of her peers. She just turned 16, only a sophomore. So, once a again I ask, why can’t others act like her? Why is it that she, an individual who was not sheltered or kept in seclusion away from the world, can sustain a complex conversation with some of the most intellectual adults I have ever met? What has this world come to when I go on my facebook and have to “cleanse” my profile of 12 year old girls wearing outfits I would be too afraid to wear even now? Sure, that might seem melodramatic, but it’s true. Why is it that I can walk into a store and see a little girl, no more than seven, walking around in a spandex shirt and shorts that are riding up her butt so far, she needs the jaws of life to pry her cheeks apart to take that wedgie out? It’s horrible. It’s upsetting really, and I feel bad for those kinds of kids because no one is going to take them seriously when that transitions into adulthood.

Fasting, a great way to start the New Year

Fasting is a way to bring you closer to God, and what better way to ring in the New Year than by getting a jump start on bringing yourself even closer to God???? In fact, what better way to ring in every morning? Don’t just limit a fast to the beginning of the year. Don’t just limit prayer or reading your Bible or alone time with God to the beginning of the year. Why do you think a God so powerful deserves to be compared to a New Year’s resolution? Sure, it’s an amazing thing to do, but don’t treat fasting and prayer like another one of your New Year’s resolutions. Saying “yeah, I’m gonna get closer to God!” And as soon as trials and obstacles come your way, you give up. Just like saying “yeah, I’m gonna lose that weight!” And as soon as you catch a whiff of that delicious McDonalds you’re a goner. Like I said, it’s an amazing thing to do, and I am in no way putting you down for doing so, but make it an every day resolution to get closer to God instead of just an every year resolution.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

-Galatians 6:9

Then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.
